“Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Serve until it hurts!

As SCBF Advocates for the “at risk” youth in our society, our marching orders are clear. We cannot just be cheerleaders shouting encouragement from the sidelines. We must get into the game. Our goals are too compelling and our commitment is too deep. Our mission is not just to collect checks from corporate sponsors and take kids to concerts and baseball games.
Our goal is to end child abuse as we know it.
Our goal is to show kids how to live spectacular lives.
As SCBF Advocates we must be the change we wish to see. If we want better kids (and adults) in our society, we must become better people. We much become more compassionate, strong and forgiving. We must become more resolved, committed and disciplined. We must become living examples of how exceptional people with exceptional lives handle themselves in any and all circumstances.
Chip’s kids must become “better people” just for having known us. I have a friend who was a Green Beret in the Vietnam war. He often mentioned that he always insisted that his troops slept, ate and reloaded before he did. It was not just a choice, it was a teaching. True leadership teaches as it serves.
If we can do this, we will become true mentors in every sense of the word. I love this quote by John Quincy Adams,“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.”
Giving of ourselves is the purist form of tithing. It will return 10 fold. “Heaped up and pressed down.” And so let us be more than SCBF Advocates…let us also be leaders!
Don’t just participate.
Serve until it hurts!
